PURPOSE:To make it possible to count the number of works with excellent accuracy and carry out every fixed number of works to the next process by providing a work taking out device with a carrying conveyer and a feeding conveyer operated at high feed speed in series to form a gap between works. CONSTITUTION:Works W which are fed at random on a carrying in conveyer 2, being near or apart one another, form a gap G between the works W when transferred onto a feeding conveyer 3 operated at high feed speed. A detector 9 can therefore correctly count the number of the works W. In addition, when the stopper 4 of a stopper element 5 rises to tilt a feeding conveyer 6 downward, the works W strike the stopper 4 and then stop there. A detector 10 ascertains that the final work counted by the detector 9 has stopped at the rear of the preceding works W. At this time, the detector 10 extends a cylinder 67 according to its ascertaining output to tilt the feeding conveyer 6 upward. Thus the works W are raised, and the stopper 4 is also lowered to carry out the works W to the downstream side.
