PURPOSE:To enhance the pressure resistant strength of a hollow yarn membrane and to enable the separation and purification of a fluid mixture under high internal pressure, by using a composite hollow yarn membrane obtained by winding a fiber with diameter of a specific value or less around the surface of a hollow yarn having a dense layer in a specific outer diametar and a specific thickness in a reticulated state. CONSTITUTION:Plural sets of bundled polyester or polypropylene fibers each having a diameter of 1mm or less are wound around the outside of a polysulfone hollow yarn ultrafiltration membrane or homogenous hollow yarn membrane made of a perfluorosulfonic acid polymer having dense layers each having an outer diameter of 0.5-10mm and a thickness of 0.01-4mm on both surfaces thereof so as to form a reticulated structure to form a composite hollow yarn membrane. By using the composite hollow yarm membrane in a state assembled into a module, the separa- tion and purification of a liquid mixture or the separa tion of gas under high internal pressure is enabled.
