The subject of the invention is a pneumatic device for activating at least one double-effect jack particularly for a switch comprising for each jack to be controlled two valves 6, 7 for connecting a first 1B and a second 1C face of the piston 1 of the said jack to a compressed gas source A and comprising, for all the jacks to be controlled, a control block for operating slide valves ensuring the opening of one of the said valves in response to a command for opening O or for closing F the switch, characterised in that the control-block comprises a body in which a first 29 and a second 30 piston may slide, the said pistons being joined together by a spring 36 tending to draw them towards each other, it being possible for one face of each piston to be connected to a compressed gas source A' through a first 53 and a second 54 controllable slide valve respectively, the first piston 29 being joined to a rod 22 controlling the operation of the two valves 6, 7, the said valves being tubular and coaxial with respect to each other and coaxial with the said rod 22 which passes through them, the said valves being operated each by a stop-piece 23, 24 fixed to the said rod 22 and depending on the direction of the rod's displacement, means 37, 40A, 6C, 15 being provided for discharging the compressed gas out of the control-block and out of the jack as soon as that one of the slide valves 53, 54 which was open is closed.
