PURPOSE:To provide a fire-resistant paint which has excellent workability and resistance to fire and corrosion, is lightweight and does not emit harmful gas, by incorporating a phosphoric acid compd., a phosphate salt frit, a hydrated inorg. compd. and a fire-resistant fiber in an epoxy mixture. CONSTITUTION:30-80pts.wt. phosphoric acid compd. (e.g. polyammonium phos phate), 20-80pts.wt. phosphate salt frit which can be converted into a vitreous melt at 390 deg.C, 20-80pts.wt. hydrated inorg. comptd. (e.g. hydrated alumina), 0.5-20pts.wt. fire-resistant fiber (e.g. ceramic fiber) having a length of 0.5-10mm and optionally additives such as colorant, deterioration inhibitor, etc. are blended with 100pts.wt. epoxy mixture of a bisphenol A diglycidyl ether compd. and a hardener mainly composed of a heterocyclic polyamine compd.
