Two transparent parallel side walls are joined by cross-pieces . The space between two transparent flat cross-pieces is filled with air, another gas or it can be evacuated. The resulting 'cavity unit' is positioned in front of a heat-storing outside wall of a house or building. Reflecting foils are attached to the upper faces of the cross-pieces and are reflecting on both their upper and lower faces. The building's wall is coated with an absorbent paint slope. The cross-pieces at an angle to the horizontal. This angle (alpha) depends on the geographic latitude at which the building is located and is a function of the angle of incidence (beta) of the sun's rays. The midday summer-time sun rays are prevented from striking the heat-absorbing outside wall of the building. |
