NEW MATERIAL:Trisazo compounds of formula I or II, wherein R is a acrylic, cyclic or arom. hydrocarbon group, a heterocyclic group, etc.; Z is an atom group capable of forming naphthalene, anthracene, carbazole, benzocarbazole or dibenzofuran ring when condensed with a benzene ring; X is H, lower alkoxy, lower alkyl, halogen, nitrile, hydroxy; n is 1-2. USE:The compds. have excellent light sensitivity and are suitable for use as photoconductive materials, particularly charge-generating materials for elecrophotographic materials. PREPARATION:A hexazonium salt of formula III (wherein A is a residue of an anion) is reacted with a compd. of formula IV or V to obtain the trisazo compd. of formula I or II.
