PURPOSE:To operate and set the aperture value to a purposive value within the range of an allowable aperture value of a lens by providing an aperture value setting means, and an aperture value preserving means, and a means which compares an aperture value inputted from the interchangeable lens with said aperture value to control the aperture value. CONSTITUTION:Aperture value information which is set by an aperture value setting means 4 and is preserved by a preserving means 5 is inputted to an aperture value changing means 6 and is defined as the first set aperture value information. Aperture value information inputted from a transmitting means 1 of an interchangeable lens 2 is compared with the first information by a limiting means 7; and if the first information is smaller than an open aperture value or larger than a minimum aperture value, the aperture value is limited to this value and is set. When the aperture value is changed by operation of the interchangeable lens, the aperture value is compared by the limiting means 7 and the set aperture value is changed by the changing means 6 to obtain the second set aperture value information. Thus, the aperture value is operated and set quickly without exceeding the range of the allowable aperture value of the lens in case of photographing with a purposive aperture value.
