PURPOSE:To make possible the high-sensitivity detection of cation in an ion chromatograph and other applications by providing a mechanism for feeding a pH adjusting liquid to the upper stream of a potential difference detector on the down stream of an ion sepn. column. CONSTITUTION:A pH adjusting liquid tank 23 and a pH adjusting liquid feed pump 20 are disposed on the down stream of the ion sepn. column 22 and the upper stream of the potential difference detector consisting of an electrode 25 and a potentiometer 26 in a detector constituted of an eluate tank 19, the liquid feed pump 20, the ion sepn. column 22, an ion selective electrode 25, the potentiometer 26, etc. The electrode 25 is a coil-shaped electrode and has the high responsiveness in a neutral to alkaline soln. having about 7-12pH and therefore the response with high sensitivity is obtd. by feeding the pH adjusting liquid in such a manner that the pH in the detection part is made optimum (about 7-12pH). |
