Disturbances of greatly differing types can occur alone or simultaneously in the operation of an endoscope washing machine. In order to be able to establish these disturbances more quickly and, in particular, to be able in the case when a plurality of disturbances depend on one another to be able to eliminate them in accordance with a logical planned sequence, the disturbances established by a multiplicity of detectors (S0, S1, S2, 26a, 26b, 26c, 37a, 37b) are collected in a monitoring section (72) and compared with possible disturbances stored in a memory (73). A number assigned to each possible disturbance is read out of the memory and displayed in a display device (74). <IMAGE>
