PURPOSE:The titled underwater-curable composition excellent in close contact and adhesion to the surface of a substrate placed in water or being in a wet state, water resistance, etc., comprising a synthetic resin emulsion, a specified polymer, a monomer in which the polymer is soluble, a cement and a peroxide. CONSTITUTION:A polymer (B) having a (meth)acryloyl group in its side chain is obtained by reacting a polymer, obtained by copolymerizing a vinyl monomer having a specified functional group (e.g., 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) with another vinyl monomer (e.g., styrene), with a specified monomer for introcucing a (meth)acryloyl group into its side chain (e.g., polyisocyanate or unsaturated alcohol). 100pts.wt. (solid matter) synthetic resin emulsion (A) such as a vinyl acetate (co)polymer emulsion is mixed with 20-200pts.wt. component B, 10-200 pts.wt. monomer (C) in which component B is soluble (e.g., styrene), 30-300pts. wt. cement (D), 0.5-10pts.wt. peroxide (E) as a curing agent and, optionally, 0.01-10pts.wt. cure accelerator (F).
