In a fishing float, having a float body (10), a plumb rod (12) which projects above and below the latter, and guide means for guiding and retaining a fishing line (20) on the float, the float body (10) has a slit-shaped recess (16) which extends from its peripheral surface to at least the approximate vicinity of the axil of the plumb rod (12). Within the recess (16) a guide eyelet (18) for the fishing line is arranged at least approximately at the centre of gravity of the fishing float. <IMAGE>
