PURPOSE:To read image information to match a prescribed format by controlling a CCD image sensor so that a dormant period in which a picture signal from the CCD image sensor stops, and a read-out period in which the picture signal is read out are alternated. CONSTITUTION:A picture signal is read out at a prescribed internal TA by an 8 stage portion each of a shift register in a CCD image sensor. On the other hand, when a gate signal VIDGTE becomes High, a 5VIDEO signal from an A/D converter 11 is applied to a synthesizing circuit 6 through an OR gate 13. An output of the synthesizing circuit 6 is clamped by a pedestal except an (sync) part in other time than eight video signals become one group and are outputted. When a picture element bit of one line of an original is read out, a synchronizing signal rturns to a 2fsync siganl. When the original moves to a position of the next line, said signal is changed to an (fsync) signal again and a picture signal is read out. This operation is repeated up to the rear end of the original, and in the end, a 2fsync period is provided a little, and thereafter, the transmitting operation is ended.
