PURPOSE:To provide an inorganic coating of high heat resistance and good workability and high flexibility in the film therefrom, exhibiting outstanding rustproofing performance to various metals, comprising a calcined product from zinc oxide, a second metal oxide and alkaline earth metal oxide, water-soluble silicate and silicon polyphosphate. CONSTITUTION:The objective coating comprising (A) a calcined product prepared by mixing (i) zinc oxide source (e.g., zinc oxide), (ii) a second metal oxide MxOy (M is metal belonging to the III-VIII group in the periodic table; x and y are each any integer) source (e.g. titanium dioxide) and (iii) alkaline earth metal oxide source (e.g., calcium oxide) followed by heating at >=500 deg.C, (B) a water-soluble silicate (e.g., water glass), (C) silicon polyphosphate, and, needed, (D) a di- or higher-valent metal salt of inorganic weak acid (e.g., zinc borate).
