PURPOSE:To spheroidize carbide in a steel without progressing surface decarburization by hot rolling a steel billet contg. a specified amount of Cr, removing scale from the surface of the resulting wire rod, and annealing the wire rod in an inert gaseous atmosphere having a specified moisture content. CONSTITUTION:A steel billet contg. 0.5-1.5% Cr is hot rolled, scale is removed from the surface of the resulting wire rod, and the wire rod is annealed in an inert gaseous atmosphere having <=0.03vol% moisture content. Thus, a high Cr steel wire rod contg. carbide spheroidized without considerably progressing surface decarburization is manufactured with the inexpensive and safe atmospheric gas. |
