PURPOSE:To prepare ammonium sulfate having large particle size with reduced energy consumption by atomizing ammonium sulfate liquor into waste gas contg. NH3, recovering the sensible heat of remaining NH3 and waste gas and heat of reaction also, and feeding the ammonium sulfate liquor directly to a granulating apparatus for ammonium sulfate. CONSTITUTION:Ammonium sulfate liquor 10 is atomized into waste gas 8 discharged from an apparatus for desulfurizing S-contg. gas and for treating desulfurization waste liquid in a recovery tower 4, and NH3 in the waste gas 8 is recovered. The ammonium sulfate liquor 10 which has been used for heat recovery in the recovery tower 4 and for the reaction with NH3, having high temp. and high degree of unsaturation and decreased free acid, is charged to a granulating apparatus 3 for ammonium sulfate without returning to an absorption device 1 for NH3 in coke oven gas 6. By this method, steam 9 consumption is reduced by ca. 10% and the particle size of granulated ammonium sulfate product is increased. |
