摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To determine accurately whether a reflecting body exists on the very lane where the own vehicle runs or not, by detecting the distance to the reflecting body and the angle of the reflecting body existing to the specified direction of the own vehicle sweeping with a light beam. CONSTITUTION:A running beam Lt being sent out sweeping to the right or left from a light deflector 17 hits a vehicle running ahead, the reflected light Lr is received with a light receiving element 21 and the output signal thereof is fed to a distance detection circuit 25 to obtain distance information L. Then, the distance information L thus obtained and the deflection angle information thetaof the beam Lt sent out from the light deflector 17 is fed to an information processing circuit 29. Moreover, the own vehicle speed Va from a vehicle speed detector 20 is fed to the information processing circuit 29. Based on the distance information L, deflection angle information theta and the own vehicle speed Va, the information processing circuit 29 determines whether the reflecting body exists on the very lane where the own vehicle runs or not.</p>
