PURPOSE:To automatically stop the feed of an ink sheet and feed only a recording paper when a blank paper condition in which recording is not conducted is continued over a predetermined section, by providing a means for detecting that the blank paper condition is continued over the predetermined section, and a means for stopping the rotation of an ink sheet feeding roller on the basis of an output signal from the detecting means. CONSTITUTION:When it is detected by the detecting means that all-white lines have continued over the predetermined section (step A), driving of a stepping motor 17 is stopped to stop the rotation of a platen 18 (step B). Then, a head pressing releasing means is operated to separate a thermal head 26 from the platen 18 (step C). Thereafter, the motor 17 is again driven to rotate the platen 18 forward, thereby feeding only the recording paper 15 (step D). When all-white lines have ended, the rotation of the platen 18 is stopped (step E), and recording is started by pressing the head 26 against the platen 18 again (step F). |
