PURPOSE:To optimize a load bearing and to enlarge the width of a center tank of a ship by providing arch-shaped bottom transverses each having a downward concave on both sides of a center girder by the transverses. CONSTITUTION:A center girder 2 is provided on the bottom of a center tank of an oil tanker along the center line of the bottom and bottom transverses 12 are connected to the center girder 2 on both sides thereof. Each transverse 12 is arch-shaped with a downward concave upper surface 12a. The transverses 12 hold the center girder 2 while suspending it. Thus, by making effective use of the arch effect of the bottom transverses, the load bearing of the center girder 2 and the bottom transverses 12 can be optimized and a stable bottom transverse structure with a sufficient strength can be obtained while simplifying the structure.
