PURPOSE:To perform high-density recording reproduction with small-sized constitution by providing a compound head, formed by cutting surfaces of base bodies molded out of a nonmagnetic material and joined them together, to base bodies of one core half body of a recording/reproducing head block and an erasing head block. CONSTITUTION:A block which is sectioned pentagonally is used as a base body 5a and a coil groove 4 is formed in one flank; and vertex parts of the pentagon are ground and a metallic magnetic thin film 5b is laminated on one flank to a specific thickness to form the 1st core half body 5. Similarly, the 2nd core half body 6 is prepared and a gap spacer 7 is formed on a metallic magnetic thin film 6b to a specific thickness to complete the 2nd core half body 6. The 1st core half body 5 and the 2nd core half body 6 are joined together, a reinforcing material 8 such as glass is charged between the magnetic thin films 5b and 6b, and one surface of the base body 6a is ground away to form the base body 6a having a desired thickness. Similarly, the erasing head 2 is formed and the block of the recording/reproducing head 1 and the block of the erasing head 2 are connected by joining surfaces of the base bodies 6a and 12a of the 2nd core half bodies to obtain the compound head. Consequently, the small-sized head very suitable to high-density recording and reproduction is obtained. |
