LIQUID DEVELOPER FOR ELECTROPHOTOGRAPHY

PURPOSE:To form a liquid developer for electrophotography which has the excellent fixability of an image and is provided with both of the dispersibility and stability of particles by consisting a coating agent of a specific polymer and specifying the softening temp. and number average mol.wt. thereof into a specific range. CONSTITUTION:The coating agent is the copolymer of long-chain alkyl (meth) acrylate (the long chain alkyl group is the long-chain or branched alkyl group from 8-22C) and methyl methacrylate of which the softening temp. is in a 40-140 deg.C range and the number average mol.wt. is in a 5X10<3>-1X10<5> range. The long-chain alkyl group contg. stearyl methacrylate of 18C is most effective. The intimate mixing with a coloring agent is uniform at the mol.wt. in the above-mentioned range or below but the image intensity decreases on the contrary. The more preferable softening temp. is 50-120 deg.C for the same reason and in terms of the ease of fixing and intensity of the formed image.
