<p>A cigarette filter containing a selective removal agent together with a filamentary material containing an organic plasticizer is characterized by the fact that the filaments in contact with the selective removal agent contain less than 5%, and preferably 1-4%, of their weight of organic plasticizer. Preferably the filter contains a plurality of sections, one of which contains the removal agent and another which is free of removal agent and has a plasticizer content of at least 10%, and preferably 12-50%, of the filament weight. The selective removal agent may be a polyethylene glycol or activated charcoal, the filamentary material secondary cellulose acetate and the plasticizer triacetin or triethyl citrate.</p> |
