PURPOSE:To provide excellent wear resistance and toughness to the titled roller by consisting the roller of ceramics and specifying the modulus of longitudinal elasticity and the surface roughness of a circumferential groove surface. CONSTITUTION:The feed roller for a wire to be used for automatic and semi- automatic welding machines is constituted of ceramics, for example, alumina ceramics, silicon carbide ceramics and silicon nitride ceramics having >=1,000 hardness Hr. The modulus of longitudinal elasticity of the feed roller is made 1.8X10<6>-2.5X10<6>kg/cm<2> and the surface roughness of the circumferential groove surface of the roller is made <=15S.
