<p>PURPOSE:To facilitate the disposal of a polyorganosiloxane, by reacting with a specific amount of phosphorus trihalide, thereby converting the siloxane to a volatile compound. CONSTITUTION:A polyorganosiloxane (e.g. polydimethylsiloxane, polymethylphenylsiloxane, etc.) is made to contact and react with 20-300wt% phosphorus trihalide (e.g. phosphorus trichloride, phosphorus tribromide, phosphorus triiodide, etc.). The Si-O-Si bond in the siloxane is incised and the siloxane is converted to a volatile compound. Preferably, following the above reaction, the reaction liquid is agitated in the presence of 5-6 times volume of water to complete the decomposition of the siloxane.</p> |
