PURPOSE:To miniaturize and to economize the titled telephone device which has telephone directory function by providing a selective-operation means to selectively allocate the prescribed number of characters and the plural functions. CONSTITUTION:If the registration is selected by means of a function key 7a, the telephone becomes in ready status for inputting the name to be registered. Therefore, the input characters are sequentially selected by means of a function key 7, and the name is inputted. After ending the input of the name, the telephone number 3 is inputted by means of pushbuttons 3. After ending the inputting of the name and telephone number, a key 7e is depressed. Then, the CPU8 arranges the name into the order of the 50-sound system (Japanese linguistic phonetic system), and stores it with the correspondent telephone number in a memory 4. But, if retrieval is selected by means of a function key 7b, the input-ready status for name-retrieving is set so that the name can be inputted, and that the end of inputting is directed. The CPU, thereby, retrieves from the memory 4, and controls an LCD displayer 6 to display the correspondent name and telephone number.
