PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration of the quality of copied picture and improve the efficiency of copying remarkably by enabling the exposed face of a photosensitive body to stop or decelerate sharply. CONSTITUTION:An exposed part is shifted between a shifting roll 8 and a shifting roll 9 in the direction X of carrying and reverse direction Y of an endless beltlike photosensitive body 7 by a solenoid 12 while a xenon lamp is lit up. Thereby, the exposed part becomes nearly the state of standstill to irregularly reflected light from an original 25, and accordingly, lowering of copied picture quality does not take place. As copied picture quality is not lowered even when the endless beltlike photosensitive body 7 is transported at high speed, number of copied sheets per unit time is increased, and efficiency of copying can be improved.
