摘要 PURPOSE:To maintain the specified space between oriented films by using spacers of the same size to bring the oriented films above and below the same into tight contact with each other. CONSTITUTION:Prescribed electrodes for a liquid crystal are formed of a light transmittable conductive film 2 on one surface of the substrate 1 and a polyimide resin 3 is thinly formed atop the same and are oriented by a rubbing treatment. A polyimide soln. 15 curable by UV rays is coated thereon. The coating is prebaked after coating and is exposed through a mask 16 having windows 17 for light transmission, by which the disposition of the spacers here and there is made possible. A sealant is coated to the periphery of the opposite light transmittable glass 1' provided with the light transmittable electrode 2' and the oriented film 3' on the inside and thereafter the substrates are mated and pressed; at the same time, the space therebetween is evacuated to a vacuum, then the spacers adhere tightly to the oriented polyimide films of the glass where the polyimide remaining on the surface faces each other. The pasting of two sheets of the glass is thus made possible.
