PURPOSE:To improve the track density by using a magnetic thin film yoke capable of control of the recording/reproducing track width and a ferrite bulk member capable of control of the gap depth. CONSTITUTION:A medium contact face is molded onto the ferrite 6 at one side forming a magnetic circuit via a glass 5, etc. A magnetic thin film yoke 4 serving as the truck width is made of 80wt% Ni, 20wt% Fe, etc. by a sputtering process. While a ferrite bulk member 7 forming the magnetic circuit at the other side is processed into a boat shape for production of a recording/ reproducing gap of a magnetic circuit. In such a constitution, the truck width is equal to the width Tw2 of the yoke 4 and the gap depth is decided by the boat shape of the member 7. The yoke 4 can be processed by the photolithogra phy with high accuracy up to about 10mum, and the recording/reproducing truck width can be reduced owing to the control given by the width Tw2 of the yoke 4. In this way, the track density is improved.
