PURPOSE:To paint uniformly the entire part of an automotive body without uneven colors by providing gate-type self-traveling frames to a painting station for the outside plate of the automotive body and moving back and forth guns on posts and beams while moving the self-traveling frames. CONSTITUTION:The painting station of two stages, front and rear, is provided in a painting booth in which a conveying path for the automotive body is laid and the inside plate part is painted in S1, S3. On the other hand, the gate-type self traveling frames 7 which are freely movable back and forth in the longitudinal direction of the conveying path 2 are disposed in S2, S4. The painting guns 81 which are freely movable back and forth in the vertical direction are provided to the respective posts 7a on both sides of the frames 7 and the painting guns 82 which are freely movable back and forth in the transverse direction are provided to the beams 7b in the upper part of the frames 7. The guns 8 are moved back and forth in the vertical and transverse directions while the frames 7 are moved. The efficient painting is thus executed in one station in the above- mentioned manner, by which the uniform painting without uneven colors is made possible.
