Procedure for mechanical planting of seedlings, preferably rooted in clumps of soil, in holes in the ground. Each seedling is released into a pre-dug planting hole from a hold position. To improve the survival rate of seedlings planted in such a way, the seedling in the hold position (3) is fed out from the position with a predetermined amount of water.
