PURPOSE:To control the amount of injected fuel and a fuel injection timing for a unit injector by providing separate, integral electrical drive means for independently controlling the amount of injected fuel and a fuel injection timing and by electronically controlling the drive means. CONSTITUTION:A stepper motor 19 supplied with a timing control signal in accordance with the revolution of an engine rotates an adjusting gear 3b through a stepping gear 20, vertically moving the adjusting gear 3b. This changes the prestroke of a plunger 2, controlling an injection timing. Further, another stepper motor 21 swings a control lever 22 in response to an electrical signal from a governor sensor and rotates the plunger 2 along with a control sleeve 6. This changes the relative position of a control groove 2d. Thus, the amount of injected fuel is controlled by making an effective stroke variable.
