PURPOSE:To enable the titled device visually to confirm whether the device is in use or not by putting in or out a handle for detaching from a copier suitably. CONSTITUTION:When copying operation is started, it is judged whether an automatic original feeding device 1 is in stopping or in operation, and when in operation, a solenoid 17 is made conductive, and the handle 4 is housed in a groove 21. Accordingly, it is not possible to detach the automatic original feeding device 1 from the copier 2. When the automatic original feeding device 1 is in the state of stopping, it is further discriminated whether copying of set number of copies of set number of originals is completed or not. When they are in copying, the solenoid 17 is made to the state of conduction, and when copying is completed, the solenoid is made non-conductive to jut out the handle 4, and the automatic original feeding device 1 is made ready to remove at any time.
