PURPOSE:To make the solidification of solid waste without generating freshly secondary waste possible by using a thermoplastic resin as a solidifying material in the stage of treating the solid waste, more particularly radioactive solid waste to solidify the same. CONSTITUTION:The thermoplastic resin (e.g.; PE) is used as the solidifying material in the stage of treating the solid waste, more particularly the radioactive solid waste to solidify the same. The content of the thermoplastic resin in the solid waste is required to be within a >=10wt.% range in the stage of solidification. The result is better as the moisture is lower and the solidification is possible up to about 30wt.%. An extruder is used to solidify the solid waste. There is no need for heating the solid waste from the outside or the solidification with auxiliary heating is possible as frictional heat is generated by the sliding of the solid waste between the inside wall of the machine and a compression screw.
