PURPOSE:To simplify the structure of a magnetic disk device and to facilitate extraction of a cartridge by decreasing the depth of a cartridge chamber in comparison with the length of a cartridge case. CONSTITUTION:A housing main body 1 is divided airtightly by a partition wall 4 into a chamber 5 containing a magnetic and air filters and a chamber 7 storing a cartridge case 6. Here the depth l1 of the chamber 7 is set shorter than the length l2 of the case 6. Thus the tip 6a of the case 6 goes beyond the chamber 7 when the chamber 6 is put completely in the chamber 7. The chamber 7 is set under an airtight state by a front door 3 after the chamber 6 is put into the chamber 7. The door 3 has a deep bottom so as to avoid the interference of the tip 6a when the door 3 is opened and closed. Furthermore, an elastic matter 8 for sealing is provided on the housing junction surface of the door 3 in order to secure the high airtight properties.
