PURPOSE:To alternately inject two kinds of fuels in two separate layers for a fuel injection pump by providing a main fuel passage and an auxiliary fuel passage for connecting a main fuel inlet and an auxiliary fuel inlet, respectively, to a pressure chamber. CONSTITUTION:An injection nozzle 40 compises a nozzle body 46 and a nozzle needle 48. A main fuel inlet 22 and an auxiliary fuel inlet 34 are connected to a pressure chamber 50 through main fuel passages 62, 64, and 66 and through auxiliary fuel passages 68, 70, 72, 74, 76, and 78, respectively. A fuel injection pump 14 and an auxiliary fuel pump 28 for delivering main fuel and auxiliary fuel are provided at a main fuel inlet 22 and at an auxiliary fuel inlet 34, respectively. Control means 100 excite a high pressure pump 80 of a fuel injection valve 20. Thus, the two kinds of fuels can be alternately injected in two separate layers.
