PURPOSE:To eliminate installing work of engraving electrode by moving the traveling position of a wire electrode provided on an electric discharge machine and also moving an electrode material to carry out electric discharge machining. CONSTITUTION:After setting the installing condition of an electrode material 23a to a servo-head 21, a wire guide 32 which is supported by an elevating means 33 is operated vertically. Thereby, one point of wire electrode 30 which passes through the wire guide 32 is moved vertically, causing the electrode 30 between the point and a carrying part 34 which carries the electrode 30, to travel obliquely or horizontally, while a servo-head 21 is also operated vertically and horizontally. Thereby, the electrode material 23a can be machined while moving in horizontal and vertical directions. |
