PURPOSE:To eliminate noises and to reduce power consumption by driving a fixing roller and a pressure roller in fixing operation rotating speeds suitable for fixation and driving them at rotating speeds slower than said rotating speeds in the remaining time. CONSTITUTION:Copying paper is fed from a paper feed cassette 8 and so sent in as to contact the photosensitive layer 24 on a photosensitive drum 26 facing a corona discharger 34 for transfer. The copying paper after transfer completion is sent to a heat fixing device 72 through a guide plate 70. This heating device 72 has the fixing roller 86 incorporating a heater 442 and the pressure roller 448. Both rollers 86 and 448 are driven during fixing operation at predetermined rotating speeds and driven at rotating speeds slower than the rotating speed suitable for fixation in the remaining time.
