PURPOSE:To eliminate the disorder of an image and to eliminate the disorder of an image due to wrong detection of a horizontal synchronizing signal by providing the jacket case of a photodetector with a reflection limiting member which limits noise light reflected by the jacket case. CONSTITUTION:When laser beam modulated according to a signal is scanned on a photosensitive body by an optical deflector to illuminate the photodetector 10 arranged in the scanning optical path of the laser beam, the photodetector 10 generate a horizontal synchronizing signal for the start of a scan and a laser recording device starts writing an image on the basis of the horizontal synchronizing signal. The jacket case of the photodetector 10, e.g. a cap 13 is formed of a material which has, for example, a black and rough surface and hardly reflects beam so that noise beam reflected by the cap 13 is limited.
