PURPOSE:To arrange so that the original data can be regained even when a block is substituted by another block having less correlation with it by detecting that an address information of a block read out from a memory in which the address information and data are written takes uncontinuous values and regarding the block as mistaken block. CONSTITUTION:When writing a memory 101, an ID signal in a block is detected and the are in which to be written is determined by the information while the ID information is also written into the memory 101. When reading from the memory 101, the ID information in the block is detected by an ID sensor 2. The thus detected ID information and the ID information from an generator 103 are compared to each other to check that these coincide with each other. If there is no coincidence, the block is decided as substituted block and an error pointer is set. Correction or adjustment is then effected in an error correction decoder 109.
