Rope comprising a core having braided or stranded parallel yarns and a braided covering. According to the invention, there is arranged between the core 1 and the covering 3 at least one thin film 2 which has a high coefficient of friction on the core 1 and on the braid 3 and the elongation of which is at least 20% higher than the elongation of the yarns forming the core 1.
