PURPOSE:To obtain a controlling method for setting up the relative position of a transfer belt to a copying process or the like simply to an optimum state by rotating photosensitive bodies at least once, executing a stand-by process during the one rotation and detecting a mark by a sensor to start a copying process or end the copying process. CONSTITUTION:The stand-by process for destaticizing and cleaning the surfaces of photosensitive bodies 3a-3c without starting the copying process immediately after a copying start command. When the photosensitive bodies 3a-3c to be provided to the stand-by process are rotated at least once, the 2nd mark 53 on the transfer belt 14 is detected by the 2nd sensor 51. When a detecting signal Pa is transmitted from the 2nd sensor to a microcomputer, the stand-by process is ended on the basis of the signal Pa and the copying process is immediately started. The stand-by process is executed at the timing determined by the 1st and 2nd sensors 50, 51 and the 1st and 2nd marks 52, 53. Consequently, the relative position of the transfer belt 14 to the copying process can be optionally set up by setting up the fitting positions of the 1st and 2nd marks 52, 53 properly. |
