PURPOSE:To reduce miscopying and to reduce the necessity of jam treatment by reversing the carrying of an original carrying member on the way of carrying when a detecting member detects that the length of an original is shorter than the gap of the original carrying member. CONSTITUTION:An insertion detecting member 10 and a leading end detecting member 8 are connected to a CPU to input a signal. When the carrying of an original is started, a timer in the CPU is set up, timer counting is started (step 1), whether the member detects the existence of the original or not is discriminated (step 2). When the discriminated result is YES, the counter counts up +1 every fixed period (step 3). The member 10 discriminates whether the number N counted up to the passage of the original and the set number N' of counts have the relation of N>=N' or not (step 4). When the discriminated result of the step 2 is NO, that the length of the original is shorter than the interval of the maximum roller is decided on the basis of the discriminated result of the step 4 although the original has been passed through the member 10, so that a carrying roller 15 is reversed (step 5). |
