PURPOSE:To enable smooth recording to be performed irrespectively of changes in environmental conditions, by a method wherein an ink-holding layer is formed from a hydrophilic resin, and a specified ink-permeable layer is provided on the surface of the ink-holding layer. CONSTITUTION:The recording material comprises an ink-receiving layer consisting of the ink-holding layer and the ink-permeable layer. The ink-holding layer is formed from a water base ink absorbing hydrophilic resin, the ink- permeable layer is formed from a substantially water-resistant polyurethane resin in a thickness of not less than 0.01mum and less than 0.1mum, and recording is conducted by using a water base ink. The polyurethane resin layer so functions that when ink droplets are deposited on the surface of the layer, the contact area is rapidly enlarged to such an extent as not inducing excessive overlapping of adjacent ink droplets, and accelerating the permeation of the ink into the ink-holding layer and the reception of the ink by the ink-holding layer. |
