PURPOSE:To make it possible to change a microscopic position over the wide range of a sample by moving an objective lens system and a reflecting member unitedly along the optical axis so that the optical length of a part parallel to a partial visual field plane of an optical system can be expanded/contracted. CONSTITUTION:Light projected from an illuminating light source 10 is passed through a half mirror 6 and reflected by a mirror 4a through an objective lens 4b to illuminate a sample 3. The light projected from the illuminated sample 1 is reflected by the mirror 4a and converted into a focal light by the objective lens 4b, the a focal light is reflected by the mirror 6 and formed as an image by an image forming lens 7 through a prism 8 and the image is obserbed by an eyepiece lens 9. Since an afocal system is formed between the objective lens 4b and the image forming lens 7, the mirror 4a and the objective lens 4b can be moved along the optical axis of the objective lens 4b in the arrow A direction by sliding the objective lens unit 4 along a guide rail 5 to change the optical length between the objective lens 4b and the half mirror 6 and the optional two-dimensional position of the sample 3 can be observed by moving a setting board without the change of the image forming state in the position P.
