<p>1,061,859. Fluid actuation of switches. HONEYWELL Inc. Oct. 6, 1965 [Oct. 12, 1964], No. 42441/65. Heading H2B. [Also in Division G3] A fluid pressure amplifier comprises a tubular member 18 receiving fluid under pressure via a restriction 58 and discharging it via an orifice 26<SP>1</SP> controlled by a plate valve member 24 carried by a diaphragm 22. When a control signal acting via conduit 36 on diaphragm 22 overcomes the force of a spring 46, the valve member closes the orifice and the build-up of pressure causes a diaphragm 26 to move to actuate a switch 68. The spring force is adjustable by means of a nut 52 in threaded engagement with member 18 and carrying a slidable seat 50, a nylon washer 53 being inserted between the flange 48 of the seat and the flange of the nut. In the embodiment of Figs. 2-4, not shown, two such amplifiers and switches are arranged side-by-side and supplied via nozzle 90 or 92, the pairs of diaphragms 22a, 26b and 22b, 26a each being defined by a single sheet 82, 86, respectively.</p> |
