The field of application of the invention relates to traffic signal systems for controlling the road traffic at traffic junctions. The aim of the invention is the direct activation of the signal transmitter lamps without using buffers. The essence of the invention consists in that a microcomputer activates the signal transmitter lamps with each rising edge of the mains phase and monitors particular signal transmitter lamps with each falling edge of the mains phase. The invention can be used for single-junction control, for the coordinated control of a number of single-junction controls and for centralised control.
