PURPOSE:To lessen the danger of the working part of an image carrying drum of an image writing head being contaminated due to toner even if a toner image is transferred to the lower surface of a recording member by arranging the working part of the image writing head without being leaked from a space held by two virtual vertical planes circumscribed to the periphery of the image carrying drum. CONSTITUTION:A cleaning means 2 for the image carrying drum 1, a transfer means 3 and a working part of a developing means 4 are arranged on the outer periphery 5 of the image carrying drum 1 and the working part of the image writing head 6 is arranged on the lower periphery. The working part of the image writing head 6 is arranged on a position prevented from being leaked from the space sandwiched by two virtual vertical planes VA, VB circumscribed to the periphery of the drum 1. Since the working part of the transfer means 4 is arranged on the upper periphery 5 of the drum 1, a developed toner image is transferred to the lower surface of a recording material. The toner scraped from the developing means 4 and the cleaning means 2 is dropped along the upper periphery 5 of the drum 1 and then dropped along the virtual vertical planes VA, VB, so that the dropped toner is hardly adhered to the image writing head 6. |
