The device for fastening a boot 1 to a ski 2 comprises a stationary plate 3 fastened to the ski and a movable plate 4 comprising means for fixing the boot to this plate. The stationary plate 3 and the movable plate 4 comprise means which interact together in order to lock these two plates to each other. These means are associated with safety members which permit unlocking of these two plates when they are subjected to relative translational forces in terms of flexing and twisting which exceed a predetermined threshold. This fastening device makes it possible to use a normal walking shoe or a conventional ski boot having a flexible sole. <IMAGE>
