PURPOSE:To promote the weight lightness of an engine, deformation suppression of a cylinder liner and the improvement of productivity or the like, by providing a cylinder block made of light metal and a cylinder liner made of light metal, fitted to the cylinder block, further applying a treatment of wearing resistance to an internal surface of the cylinder liner. CONSTITUTION:A cylinder block 10 used for an aluminum alloy made four- cylinder engine is manufactured by the method of high productivity of die cast forging or the like. This cylinder block 10 applies surface machining in its condition of simple substance to the upper surface, that is, a cylinder head mounting surface 12 and to the bottom surface, that is, a crankcase mounting surface 14. While a cylinder liner 24 is prepared by a light alloy of high-strength aluminum alloy or the like. And machining work is applied to a cylinder internal surface of the cylinder block 10 and an external surface of the cylinder liner 24 so as to provide a press fit margin of about 10mu, while the cylinder liner 24 is fitted to the cylinder block 10 by heating only the cylinder block 10. Thereafter, the cylinder liner 24 applies to its internal surface a surface treatment of wearing resistance of hard chrome plating or the like. |
