PURPOSE:To enable the conservation of a paint, by providing a light source for emitting light in close vicinity to a spray gun and controlling the spraying of the paint from a spray gun by detecting the reflected light from an object to be painted. CONSTITUTION:When a predetermined signal is detected by an infrared sensor 20, a clock 21 is driven and said signal is counted up to a predetermined value by said clock 21 to send out a signal to a control apparatus 22 and a spray gun 24 is driven by a spray gun driving apparatus to perform the spraying of a paint or to stop the spraying thereof. The infrared sensor can detect not only infrared rays from an object 7 to be painted but also the hole part 9 of the object 7 to be painted. By this method, the spraying of the paint in conformity with a shape is automatically enabled.
