PURPOSE:To easily control deforming load of self-aligning plates by shaping U-shaped bent parts on the self-aligning plates as to be arranged annularly and forming notched grooves therein to have a plurality of foot pieces radially arranged on said plates. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of foot pieces 20 having bent parts 19 which have approximately U-shaped section are radially shaped on self-aligning plates 15. When a steering wheel tends to be turned and deformed in such direction that the lower part thereof is shifted to the forward side and the upper part thereof is shifted to the rear side, the upper part of the plate 15 is pressed in the rear direction at the bent part 19 and the lower part of the plate 15 is pressed in the forward direction at the bent part 19. An impact energy will thereby be absorbed. If the plate 15 is subjected to additional deformation, the bent part 19 at the lower part of the plate 15 makes contact with the supporting part 14 of a boss 11. When the plate 15 is pressed furthermore, the spoke 25 is deformed to absorb the impact energy.
